EVERY month for the past ten years, under the headline Wild About Dorset, Brian Jackman has written a countryside column for our Parish Magazine. Now, by compiling them into book form Brian is hoping to create a unique portrait of West Dorset’s wildlife through the year.

WILD ABOUT DORSET – the nature diary of a Westcountry parish – will have a cover specially designed by acclaimed Dorset landscape artist Liz Somerville, and beautiful full colour illustrations by Carry Akroyd, one of Britain’s foremost wildlife artists.

Bradt Guides, who have published all Brian’s previous books, hope to publish it in the autumn. However, due to the financial constraints imposed by the Covid crisis, this can only be achieved with the help of a Crowdfunder campaign.

Our target is £4,500 and that is why Brian is writing now to enlist your support. To read about this Crowdfunder campaign, the rewards on offer and how to donate, simply follow this link:

Once the target for publishing the book is met, any additional donations will be divided between the Dorset Wildlife Trust and the Benefice of Eggardon and Colmers which covers four rural parishes – Powerstock. Askerswell, Loders and Symondsbury. Between them they care for eight historic churches – all in need of constant funds to preserve their unique character. So please support this worthwhile cause and tell all your friends.
